Rolan Barrall chair caning live demonstration at Blueberry Festival

Craftsman Rolan Barrall’s chair caning live demonstration will be at the Blue Berry Festival in Historic Bethlehem on Saturday July 16th and Sunday July 17th and will not be at his booth. Caning furniture began to gain popularity in the trading nations of Europe during the mid-1600’s when supply of rattan cane became available and was certainly a trade practiced by the craftsmen of colonial times. Rolan was taught the craft by his father who was also visually impared and learned caning and furniture repair at Overbrook School in Philadelphia.

Rolan demonstrates his craft and repairs furniture at Markeplace-316 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays unless he is doing a live demonstration at a community event. For more information on Rolan please refer to his vendor page:
